FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: process includes burning of coke with the use air, mainly, oxygen heated in advance, heating of metal charge material with flue gases in countercurrent flow with which melt is overheated and saturated with carbon in coke bed. For better penetration of gases through coke bed constant part of oxygen is blown at high rate as far as possible into coke bed and variable part of oxygen is directed through nozzles into ring air conduit. EFFECT: reduced amount of coke with preservation of high productivity of furnace. 4 cl, 7 dwg
