FIELD: industrial organic synthesis and gas treatment methods. SUBSTANCE: to free hydrochloric acid of chlorine, ethyl chloride and other organochlorine impurities, release gases are thermally treated in open flame at adiabatic burning temperature 1200 to 2010 C, preferably in hydrogen or natural gas flame. Purified gases are used to produce pure hydrochloric acid. In such procedure, formation of ozone-destructive methylchloroform is avoided. 96% of chlorine and 99.9% of ethyl chloride are removed. EFFECT: increased economical efficiency. 4 cl, 1 tbl, 7 ex
