FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: trichloroacetic acid prepared by oxidation chloral-containing mixtures is purified by diluting it to concentration 85- 90 wt % based on total acidity, distilling off low-boiling fractions from resulting solution followed by their condensation, removing chloroorganic impurities from condensate by settling and separation of organic and aqueous phases, and thermally decomposing organic phase. According to invention, trichloroacetic acid solution freed of low-boiling fractions is cooled to crystallize part of the acid, crystals are separated from mother liquor, and the latter is further used for diluting initial trichloroacetic acid. EFFECT: enhanced purification efficiency.
