FIELD: building materials industry, more particularly fire protection of structures in thermoelectric stations and heat insulation of building structures. SUBSTANCE: silicate composition comprises liquid glass binder, refractory filer in the form of hollow microspheres, silicon-containing hardening agent, modifying agent in the form of mixture of alkali metal salts and oxygen-containing copper (II) salts and refractory filler in the form of sol microspheres, ratios of components being as follows, wt %: modifying agent 2-5 including alkali metal salts, 0.6-1.8; oxygen-containing hardening agent; 0.01-1.5; sol microspheres, 30-40; and liquid, the balance, oxygen-containing copper (II) salt is copper (II) sulfate, and alkali-metal salt is sodium chloride at weight ratio of 1:3, respectively. Binder is liquid glass with density of 1.40-1.42 kg/cubic m. EFFECT: higher content of equal pores, greater amount of pores, lower heat conduction coefficient of up to 0.1 w/m K, unchanged structural strength, higher water resistance and optimum degree of molding products. 3 cl, 5 ex, 2 tbl
