FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, concerns structural isomerization of linear olefins having at least 4 carbon atoms into corresponding branched metylisoolefins. Process includes (i) bringing hydrocarbon stream containing at least one above-indicated olefin into contact, at stream temperature, with isomerization catalyst containing at least one zeolite with one- or more-dimensional porous structure and pore size more than 0.42 nm and less than 0.7 nm and is distinguished by that contact is effected at temperature from 200 to 650 C with catalyst additionally containing up to 15 wt % of metal promoting oxidation of coke deposits and including additional stages: (ii) stopping contact of fed stream with catalyst after formation of coke deposits on catalyst surface; (iii) bringing catalyst with coke deposits into contact with oxygen- containing gas at temperature below 565 C, total system pressure above 1 atm, and partial oxygen pressure from 0.001 to 40 atm to burn away coke deposits from catalyst; and (iv) repeating stage (i) with catalyst prepared according to stage (iii). Catalytic composition is also described. EFFECT: increased yield of product, reduced catalyst regeneration time, and prolonged catalyst lifetime. 25 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl, 15 ex
