FIELD: continuous casting of high- carbon steels, possibly manufacture of thin-sheet blanks. SUBSTANCE: process for continuous casting of steel with carbon content more than 0.50% comprises use of mold having at least in its starting portion conicity value equal to (1.5-4)% per meter. Mold is subjected to vibration with frequency (180-350) oscillations per minute, with strokes upwards and downwards equal to +-(5-9)mm and with full motion length equal to (10-18)mm. In period of starting cooling, degree of cooling is very intensive and time period of transitional state at starting casting is decreased by 1/3-1/4 in comparison with that of normal transitional state at starting casting. EFFECT: improved structural and technological characteristics of steels. 7 cl, 4 dwg
