FIELD: continuous casting of blanks.
SUBSTANCE: mould of the device for continuous casting of a metal casting, made with the possibility of casting at a speed of 6 to 15 m/min, contains a casting cavity (13), bounded by the walls (14) of the mould, connected to each other in the zone of ribs (15), and means (16) primary cooling associated with the walls (14). The casting cavity (13) is made with an octagonal cross section, with a distance between two opposite walls of 110-220 mm, a length (LM) of 500-1500 mm and has a downward taper. The specified taper is a single type taper of 0.8-1.5%/m, or multiple or parabolic type of 2-4%/m in the meniscus zone (M) and a value of 0.2-1.0%/m at the bottom of the crystallizer. Means (16) of primary cooling create a heat flow in the meniscus zone (M) over 6 MW/m2 up to 14 MW/m2 inclusive, with an average value of 3-5.5 MW/m2.
EFFECT: increased casting speed and productivity of steel plants.
