FIELD: oil refining and petrochemical industries, more particularly petroleum stock for preparation of industrial carbon. SUBSTANCE: method comprises catalytic cracking of petroleum fractions in the presence of zeolite-containing catalyst, fractionation of catalytic cracking products to isolate heavy gas oil and mixing of the latter with petroleum component at (0.1: 4):1 weight ratio. Petroleum component includes petroleum residues resulting from processes of deasphaltization of heavy petroleum fractions with selected solvent or vacuum distillation of said fractions, and mixing is carried out at temperature of 90-150 C.
