FIELD: formation of matrixes. SUBSTANCE: matrix powder and impregnating material used in the capacity of worn- out element or used to hold at least one individual solid element are employed for formation of matrix. Matrix powder includes particles of crushed baked carburized wolfram carbide. Composite compound of crushed baked carburized wolfram carbide contains approximately 6 to 13 per cent by weight of binding metal and from 87 to 95 per cent by weight of wolfram carbide. Technical result of process consists in improved matrix powder for solid composite compound carrying assemblage of solid elements of diamond type or elements of polycrystalline diamond compounds held in matrix, improved impact and breaking strength, hardness and resistance to erosion.
