FIELD: production of stabilized passivated copper catalysts. SUBSTANCE: stabilized passivated copper catalyst is produced by passing of passivation flow of gas free of reducing gases. It contains 0.05-0.5 vol.% of oxygen and carbon dioxide in amount twice as large as that of oxygen. Gas is passed through catalyst layer for complete passivation of catalyst. In so doing, content of oxygen in said flow of passivating gas and temperature at which said flow of passivating gas is supplied to layer are maintained at the level to provide for temperature of catalyst not in excess of 100 C during passivation stage and subsequent increase of oxygen content in gas passing through layer until oxygen partial pressure is equal to oxygen partial pressure in air at atmospheric pressure. Method of stabilization of claimed catalyst is offered. Claimed method may be used for stabilization of freshly reduced catalysts, or for stabilization of used, for instance, spent catalysts before their unloading from reactor. EFFECT: simplified process and increased economic efficiency. 8 cl, 1 dwg
