FIELD: electrodeposition, particularly, iron plating electrolytes; applicable in building up of iron layer of high hardness on surfaces of any grades of steel and cast iron for reconditioning of any worn out parts of machines and mechanisms, or production of hardening layer on new parts to prolong considerably their service life. SUBSTANCE: iron plating electrolyte contains, g/l: iron chloride 410-450; sodium bromide 0.5-1.0; sulfuric acid 1.2-1.9 and hydrochloric acid up to pH 0.8-1.4. EFFECT: increased stability of electrolyte promoting optimization of iron plating process and quality of deposited coating. 1 tbl
