FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: method can be used in reconstruction of steel and reinforced concrete structures of bridges and overpasses. According to method, undertaken is successive mounting of sectional subdiagonal on lower girth of each main girder of steel superstructure, simultaneous or alternate tensioning of subdiagonals before and during dismantling of reinforced concrete slabs of carriage way with force applied to each subdiagonal equal to (0.1-0.3)P, where P - design tensioning force in each subdiagonal. After that, performed is subsequent tensioning of subdiagonals with alternate upward curving-out of relieved girders to design value, mounting of new reinforced concrete slabs to suit previous or enlarged width dimension of carriage way and dismantling of subdiagonals after monolithic concrete joint acquires required capacity of strength. Subdiagonals are fixed at each position of tensioning. Application of aforesaid method improves operational properties of bridge due to its higher load-bearing capacity or widening of carriage way width without changing design of steel superstructure or introduction of additional structural components.
