METHOD FOR APPROACHING SPINAL CORD Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

Abstract RU 2142748 C1

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves longitudinally cutting cutanofascial layers to approach spinous processes tops. Dorsal muscles attachment sites are separated from the processes and stripped with broad chisel and brought aside exposing posterior spinal canal wall. The wall is dissected with longitudinal parallel incisions along the articulation processes line retaining articulation integrity. Arcs are dissected in oblique frontal plane. Posterior wall of the spinal canal mobilized in this way is transected transversely in the upper part or in the lower part creating U-shaped flap on limb. When indicated, it is transected in the middle part with two U-shaped flaps cut out. C- shaped section of the posterior wall of the spinal canal is accompanied by producing a flap on single broad limb. The flaps are brought aside and operation is carried out on spinal cord organs. Then the flaps are positioned on their original place and sutures are put. Arcs are fixed with perosseous sutures, or with bone nails to restore the posterior wall of the spinal canal without applying osteoplastic fixation and making the spinal canal wall immovable.
