FIELD: fire-fighting techniques and equipment. SUBSTANCE: method includes introduction into protected volume of preliminarily oxidized and cooled steam-gas-aerosol mixture with solid phase particles sizing 1-2 mcm formed in burning of pyrotechnic composition, final oxidation of combustion products in layer of sorbent with oxygen-containing oxidizer. Introduced simultaneously into protected volume is steam-gas mixture produced by its desorption from surface of solid cooler saturated with coolant in indirect heat exchange with combustion products of pyrotechnic composition. Oxygen- containing oxidizer may be used in form of potassium nitrate. Device for embodiment of claimed method consists of body with outlet opening in which combustion chamber is located, which is heat-insulated from body walls. Combustion chamber contains pyrotechnic composition, initiating device ands sorbent with oxygen-containing oxidizer. Cooling unit is located above combustion chamber and insulating from direct contact of cooler with combustion products of pyrotechnic composition. Cooling unit consists of, at least, two coaxial shells filled with coolant. Partitions are installed above shells and space between partitions is filled with filtering sorbent. Method and device are applicable for fire extinguishing in various types of structures and appliances without harmful effect on people and living organisms, nature, high-accuracy apparatuses and devices.
