FIELD: woodworking industry, applicable for improvement of physico-chemical properties of low-value wood. SUBSTANCE: the novelty is in the fact that preheating is conducted at a temperature of 80 to 90 deg., vacuum treatment - at a pressure of -(0.1 to 0.8)MPa during 40 to 50 min, gaseous ammonia is fed at a temperature of 140 to 160 deg. during 18 to 22 hours, vacuum retreatment is carried out five times by 30-min cycles, after that the liquid obtained in absorber is fed to an autoclave (3 to 6% of the wood bulk), thermal treatment is carried out at a pressure of -(0.1 to 0.8)MPa and temperature of 160 to 200 deg. during 4 to 6 hours.
