FIELD: mechanical engineering; exhaust systems of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: device has swirl chamber made in form of hollow body of revolution with two end face bottoms. Swirling of gas flow is provided by inlet branch pipe tangentially connected with swirl chamber. Swirl chamber is connected with exhaust gas outlet duct in zone of maximum diameter of chamber inner surface. Swirl chamber is made with inner surface diameter increasing from inlet branch pipe to zone in which swirl chamber communicates with outlet duct which terminates in outlet branch pipe. Swirl chamber can communicate with outlet duct both from side of one bottom or from side of other bottom, and tangential inlet branch pipe is connected in middle of swirl chamber. Part of outlet duct can be made in form of ring manifold. Outlet branch pipe is installed inside swirl chamber coaxially with chamber. Outlet duct communicates with swirl chamber through ring slot or holes in swirl chamber housing differing in shape, size and arrangement over circumference of swirl chamber. Inlet branch pipe is specially shaped. Device can be made with more than one inlet branch pipe, and different methods of branch pipe connection with swirl chamber can be used. EFFECT: reduced gas-dynamic resistance of exhaust gas system, increased efficiency, decreased toxicity of exhaust gases. 14 cl, 9 dwg
