FIELD: manufacture of superfine fibers; manufacture of building materials. SUBSTANCE: method includes two stages: after imparting tape-shaped cross section to falling jet of melt and feeding this jet to front dispersed portion of fiber formation zone, jet of melt is crushed into flow of particles not connected with one another. Crushing the jet of melt is effected by means of action of small jets of gaseous energy carrier heated to 600-1500 C which are inclined relative to longitudinal axis; these small jets escape from holes on diffuser surface at pressure of 10 to 300 Mpa. During second stage, particles of melt are drawn in fibers in rear transforming portion of fiber formation zone. Fiber drawing is effected by successive actions of small jets of gaseous energy carrier heated to 100-500 C which are inclined relative to longitudinal axis of fiber formation zone escape from holes on diffuser surface.
