FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: described are support-based catalyst component comprising solid support in the form of particles and having (i) specific surface area from 100 to 1000 sq.m/g as determined by nitrogen absorption by BET method, (ii) amount of surface hydroxyl group of not greater than 5 mmoles of hydroxyl groups per g of solid support by adding excessive amount of dialkyl magnesium to solid support suspension and determining the amount of dialkyl magnesium remaining in solution, (iii) pore volume from 0.3 to 3.0 cubic cm/g as determined by nitrogen absorption, (iv) average particle size from 1 to 200 mcm as determined by particle size analyzer coulter, and (v) at least 70 wt % of solid support particles are in the form of agglomerate subparticles having particle size from 1 to 10 mcm as determined by electronic microscopy with fraction of void volume from 5 to 30% as determined by electronic microphotography, and (B) magnesium halide.
