FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: connector has main shroud and removable conductor locking device attached to it. Modular connector meant for interconnecting first and second sets of conductors and their reliable locking in position has elongated shroud, set of binding posts on connector shroud used to provide electrical connection between respective pairs formed by one conductor of first set of conductors and one conductor of second set, removable cover mounted on connector shroud so that it holds down first set of conductors in direction of binding posts, as well as elongated strip whose length is not greater than that of conductor shroud, strip-mounted locking device, at least one conductor of first set of conductors, and device for attaching strip to connector shroud so that it is generally arranged in parallel with connector shroud. Design of modular connector and system for interconnecting first and second sets of conductors is given in description of invention. Connector provides for easy manual splicing of conductors and use of various locking components. EFFECT: reduced mechanical stresses of conductors joined together with cover removed. 20 cl, 12 dwg
