FIELD: medico-biological investigations. SUBSTANCE: superoxidedismutase activity and antioxidant properties of chemical compounds are assessed from their capacity to inhibit autooxidation reaction of adrenaline in alkali medium. Reaction rate is measured spectrophotometrically from the value of optical density (347 nm) of adrenaline autooxidation product forming both in absence and in presence of compounds being examined. To accomplish autooxidation reaction, 100 mcm of 0.1% adrenaline hydrochloride (ready-to-use remedy) is added to 2 ml of 0.2 M carbonate buffer. Mixture is stirred, placed into spectrophotometer, and optical density is measured over 3 min time relative to adrenaline-free reference solution. EFFECT: simplified and accelerated analytical procedure. 4 cl, 7 dwg, 2 tbl, 2 ex
