FIELD: biotechnology, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to liposome preparations. Method of making liposomes (diameter is 0.1-50 mcm) exhibiting monolayer or multilayer structure and containing water-insoluble or undissolved materials consisting of particles involves: (a) making liposomes and total removal of organic solvent used in preparing process; (b) lyophilization of prepared liposomes and (c) rehydration of liposomes in solid mixture with particle-containing material. Preferably incapsulated materials are particle-containing materials being the most preferable materials are microorganisms, plant and animal cells or nondissolved structures showing nonstable biochemical or immunological activity in organic solvent. Also, any water-insoluble particle can be incapsulated by the method given. For example, catalysts or drugs that are difficultly soluble in water can be incapsulated also. This ensures to provide prolonged-release of active component in patient body without use of detergents that are used in liposome preparing procedures.
