FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Metal is fed from pony ladle into casting mould, ingot is drawn from casting mould at variable rate, ingot is supported and guided by idler and drive rollers along process axis and cooled in secondary cooling zone. In first and second zones cooling is made by water at water flow rate of 5.2-12.3 (m3/h) in first zone and 5.2-12.6 (m3/h). In the next cooling zones ingot is cooled by water-air mix at the water-to-air flow rate ratio making (2.0-7.2):260 m3/h in third zone, (2.2-7.7):520 m3/h in fourth zone, (3.1-5.2):420 m3/h in fifth zone and (2.2-4.3):690 m3/h in sixth zone. Length of cooling zones makes, mm, 150, 720, 1301, 2886, 2556, 3901.
EFFECT: ruled out crack formation and leaks of liquid metal.
