FIELD: pyrolysis of hydrocarbon, particularly, oil stock; applicable in destructive conversion at high temperatures of heavy hydrocarbons, mainly, crude oil, gas oils, mazut. SUBSTANCE: method consists in that in process of conversion of hydrocarbon stock fed to cylinder volume of internal combustion engine in moving of piston to bottom dead center at admission stroke is prepared fuel-air mixture in amount of 40-50% of one cycle reagent volume with oxygen-to-hydrocarbon stock amount ratio of a=1.0-1.1. Fuel-air mixture is compressed by piston up to occurrence of self-ignition and burnt. Then, in piston moving downward to bottom dead center, fed to cylinder is processed stock in amount of 60-50% of reagents volume and mixed with exhaust gases of burnt fuel. Subsequent pyrolysis of mixture and hardening of pyrolysis products are effected during the same stroke of piston motion to bottom dead center. Withdrawal of reaction products from reaction volume is accomplished in moving of piston to top dead center. Further on, a new portion of mixture of hydrocarbon stock with air is introduced in moving of piston to bottom dead center. Process is repeated with frequency of 500-1500 cycles per minute.
