FIELD: construction of motor-road and railway bridges under complex engineer and geological conditions, specifically, in grounds subject to landfall. SUBSTANCE: pier includes part to rest against superstructures, post-like members and foundation incorporating supporting components joined by means of foundation mat. Distinguishing feature of proposed pier consists in manufacture of supporting components in the form of plates crossing landfall through its thickness and worked deep into bearing layer of ground which are positioned along movement of landfall at distances determined by dependence B≥C+2[H•tg(45+ϕ)]•tgϕ/2, where B is distance between plates, m; C is width of plate cross-section, m; H is thickness of landfall, ϕ is angle of internal friction of landfall soil. Plates can have rectangular cross-section or have the form of walls made of piles placed in soil. EFFECT: enhanced functional reliability of bridge, reduced power action of landfall on foundation of pier by matching parameters and direction of movement of landfall and plates of foundation, diminished usage of material and cost of erection of pier and bridge. 3 cl, 4 dwg
