FIELD: nondestructive test of physical characteristics of materials. SUBSTANCE: process lies in measurement of parameters of magnetic fields on surface of tested object and in determination of zone of aggregation of dislocations corresponding to anomalous zones of internal stress. With this in mind absolute value of maximum of normal component of intensity of magnetic field is measured, magnetic permeability of material in zone of maximum of intensity is measured in addition and value of internal stress that is used to evaluate stress-deformed state of tested material is computed. Besides direction of maximum of tangential component of intensity of magnetic field can be found, its absolute value can be measured and vector of maximum of internal stress can be computed. Apart from these calculations distance from surface of tested object to zone of anomalous internal stress can be found by any traditional methods and value of energy accumulated in this zone that can be employed to evaluate intensity of initiation and growth of cracks can be computed.
