FIELD: rolled stock production. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of marking out initial strip coil fed from uncoiling drum and subjecting it to rolling process controlled by changing in space position of uncoiling drum axis relative to plane including axes of rolls of rolling stand of rolling mill; subjecting to more tension less stressed edge of strip; realizing change of position of uncoiling drum axis relative to plane including axes of rolls of rolling stand of rolling mill in horizontal or vertical plane. Rolling mill for making thin metallic strip includes lower platform and upper platform moving on lower platform. Uncoiling drum is mounted on upper platform with possibility of axial motion and it has drive unit for tensioning strip. Uncoiling drum is arranged in the same technological line as rolling stand of rolling mill and coiler. Lower platform is rotatable one. It provides possibility of changing position of axis of uncoiling drum and therefore changing degree of tensioning edges of rolled strip. EFFECT: enhanced quality of rolled strip. 4 cl, 4 dwg
