APPARATUS FOR MAKING TUBES WITH MULTISTART HELICAL CORRUGATIONS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of tubes with multistart helical corrugations. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes shaping members whose number is no less than that of corrugation starts. Shaping members are arranged on axles mounted in mechanisms for radially moving, rotating and fixing angle of disc relative to axis of apparatus. Shaping members are in the form of discs with working surface whose shape corresponds to that of recesses of corrugations. Mechanism for rotating and fixing angle of each disc is in the form of cylindrical sleeve radially mounted in housing with possibility of rotation around its own axis and fixed against axial movements. In housing and in sleeve there are openings distributed along sleeve axis and parallel to it. Openings of sleeve are shifted by angle from initial position by values equal to rotation angles of disc relative to axis of apparatus. Pin is alternatively introduced into said openings. Mechanism for radial motion of each disc is in the form of rod placed in sleeve with possibility of motion along its axis. Disc axle is arranged on end of rod placed nearer relative to axis of apparatus. On opposite end of rod radial-motion limiters are arranged; the same end of rod is joined with working member of radial-motion drive unit. Apparatus provides motion of number of discs equal to number of starts of corrugations. Discs are arranged uniformly around axis of apparatus. Number of openings of sleeve that may be aligned with respective opening of housing at sleeve rotation is more than 1. Openings are made at both sides of plane passing through axis of sleeve, parallel to axis of apparatus and being parting plane of two-part housing. Axis of sleeve is normal relative to axis of apparatus. Radial-motion drive unit is in the form of power cylinder arranged on end of sleeve spaced by more distance from axis of apparatus than its other end.
