FIELD: vapor conversion of carbon oxide. SUBSTANCE: carbon oxide is made to react with steam on copper-containing catalyst at volumetric gas rate of 3500-4000 3500-4000 h-1, temperature of 210- 250 C, pressure of (20-30)•105 Pa, steam to gas ratio of (0.45- 0.6):1, resistance of (0,2-0,5)•105 Pa in converter, carbon oxide inlet concentration of 1.2-4.0% till carbon oxide outlet concentration of more than 0.55% is reached or resistance of higher than 0,5•105 Pa is attained in converter. This done, disengaged converter is charged with fresh catalyst and is once again set into operation. Converter is charged with fresh catalyst only to the zone in which, before converter is disengaged, temperature of gas being converted is higher than temperature of gas at converter inlet. Carbon oxide conversion is continued using mixture of fresh catalyst and spent catalyst. Invention makes it possible to reduce consumption of fresh catalyst.
