SUBSTANCE: wastes with high iron content of the type of electric arc furnace dust are shaped with the aid of organic binder into briquette-type products and/or other solid configurations that can be used in steel and iron smelting processes and also to produce commercially important volumes of iron and heavy metals from wastes. For that, iron- containing material is first combined with carbon-containing material to form oil- and moisture-free iron-carbon mixture. Further, styrene or acrylonitrile polymer is dissolved in hygroscopic solvent. The two components are combined and calcium carbonate and aluminosilicate binder are added. Resultant mixture is completed with aqueous emulsion of polyvinyl polymer and compacted into products. The latter contain iron-containing material and powdered carbon with molecular carbon attachment zones linked to each other over long-chain polymer.
