FIELD: railway track maintenance and repair machinery and equipment. SUBSTANCE: according to method, railway track is displaced relative to laser beam which is created by electronic tachometer. Electronic tachometer is installed at beginning of track section to be trued beyond overall dimensions of rolling stock. Laser beam is oriented on reflector which is installed at end of rail track section to be trued at distance from it equal to distance of installing electronic tachometer. Track displacement mechanism receives value of position ordinate relative to location of laser beam from second reflector which is installed on rail truck positioned behind rail displacement mechanism. Second reflector is installed in line with first reflector and electronic tachometer. Value of required rail track displacement is thus determined. Application of aforesaid method and device ensures high accuracy of trueing. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 2 dwg
