ARTIFICIAL SUPPORT AND METHOD OF ITS CONSTRUCTION IN MINING OF STEEP BEDS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: mining; applicable in roof control in mining of steep beds. SUBSTANCE: artificial support includes laying of boarding/plating and placing of stowage material on it. Artificial support has two fixing units, each made in the form of guide sleeve with slot over entire length and clamp with cone rigidly attached to sleeve, several pairs of articulated levers whose one ends are fastened directly to guide sleeve, and the other ends, to sliders moving over sleeve resting on boarding/plating washer. Boarding/plating is made of two wedge-shaped bases. Lower base is fixed and has variable height, while upper base is located for motion with respect to lower one. Two ropes are passed through holes in lower part edges. Diameter of base holes exceeds slider outer diameter of washer. Base holes from the side opposite to installation of fixing unit are chamfered. Method of construction of artificial supports in extraction of steep beds includes staggering of rows of boarding/plating along the seam strike and laying on them of stowage material. Boarding/plating length is equal or multiple to value of support step of advance with gap between seam roof being less than size of lumpy stowage material. Simultaneously with laying of stowage material, lower base of boarding/plating is help by ropes and upper base is moved under gravity of stowage material up to stop at seam roof and then ropes are withdrawn. Material stowing and withdrawal of ropes are carried out with separation from line of breakage face one row. EFFECT: higher safety in execution of jobs and provided construction of artificial support without presence of men in breakage face. 2 cl, 3 dwg
