CONTINUOUS METHOD AND DEVICE FOR HALOGENATION OF ELASTOMERS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: halogenation of elastomers with introduction of halogenating agent into solution of unsaturated elastomer in organic solvent. SUBSTANCE: method includes mixing of halogenating agent with continuous flow of elastomer solution, dissolving of halogenating agent and its reaction with elastomer in this continuous flow. In so doing, flow of elastomer solution is kept in turbulent motion without flow inversion phenomenon and with simultaneous reaction between halogenating agent and elastomer. Halogenating agent is introduced into elastomer solution at atmospheric pressure and temperature in flow of elastomer solution maintained above 10 C. The device for embodiment of the method includes column-type reactor with line of introduction of elastomer solution and at least one distributor for introduction of halogenating agent and with lines of discharge of effluent gas and solution of halogenated elastomer, mechanical means for creation of turbulence which may be static, for instance, in the form of nozzle, or dynamic, in particular, in the form of one layer of Raschig rings. In this case, line of introduction of elastomer solution is connected to reactor lower part and at least one distributor for introduction of halogenating agent is connected to reactor above line of elastomer.
