FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, processing of aluminum wastes; applicable in recovery of metals from salt aluminum slags. SUBSTANCE: method includes formation of reaction volume of electric furnace on base of halide eutectics of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals, provision of ore-thermic conditions of smelting in reaction volume, charging of aluminum slags, and removal of metal from reaction volume. Smelting is carried out at temperature of 950-1500 C in presence of solid carbon reducing. Halides of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals are used in the form of cryolite and calcium fluoride. Carbon reducing agent is used in the form of ground wastes of graphite electrodes of aluminum electrolyzers. The method allows reduction of oxide phase of salt aluminum slags and recovery of metals from them. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 1 ex
