FIELD: devices for production of metals and their alloys directly from ores, concentrates and various metallurgical wastes (slags, slimes, etc) without their preliminary agglomeration or sintering. SUBSTANCE: device has metal body; dome cover with holes for electrodes, gas withdrawal and charge supply; reaction zone with halide melt provided with periphery slag lining and located between body walls lined with carbon material; bath equipped with metal uphill teeming system. Device is made with a possibility of formation of compensation zone for formation of periphery slag lining in space between reaction zone and bath having lining of magnesite refractories. In this case, width of compensation zone with respect to electrode diameter varies from value equalling at least twelve electrode diameters at level of reaction zone to value amounting to not more than six electrode diameters at bath level. Height of compensation zone does not exceed three electrode diameters. Provided within compensation zone is channel for discharge of halides melt; and hole for gas discharge is combined with hole for charge supply. EFFECT: prevented carburization of desired product, excluded use of difficulty available materials. 1 dwg
