FIELD: reconnaissance, in particular, surface radar probing for detection of heterogeneous rock structures. SUBSTANCE: method involves reception of excited signal using two receivers, subtraction of one received signal from another, time-scale converting and preliminary processing of received signal and signal difference. Respective device has differential probing unit, which has transmitter, receivers, phase inverter and adder. Outputs of receivers are connected to inputs of adder. Output of one receiver is connected through phase inverter. Receiving antennas are in symmetry about transmitter. EFFECT: increased efficiency of reconnaissance. 2 cl, 2 dwg
