FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, more particularly cast iron compositions intended for preparing ingots made of highly strong cast iron with ball-shaped graphite and ferrite-based cast iron and other types of ingots. SUBSTANCE: cast iron comprises, wt % carbon, 3.5-4.6; silicon, 0.51-1.0; manganese, 0.01-0.1; phosphorus, 0.010-0.060; sulfur, 0.005-0.015 titanium, 0.01-0.025; chrome, 0.005-0.010 copper, 0.001-0.020; vanadium, 0.01- 0.03; lead, 0.005-0.01; cobalt, 0.001-0.003; selenium; 0.0005-0.001; zinc, 0.0005-0.001; bismuth, 0.0005-0.001; iron, the balance. Inclusions of graphite in cast iron are finer and isolated from each other. Structure across section of ingot is more homogeneous, amount of sulfide inclusions is reduced.
