FIELD: radar equipment, identification of radar objects differing in geometric dimensions. SUBSTANCE: method can be used by air traffic control services, in radar equipment of antiaircraft rocket and aviation complexes. Method employs single-position mobile radar which forms two antenna radiation patterns in direction to radar target in sequence. One radiation pattern has width at which coefficient Kβ of relative extent tends to zero. The other radiation pattern has value of width with which O<Kβ<1 amplitudes of echoes to signals received by antenna are measured. Average value of amplitudes of echoes and normalized difference of these amplitudes are calculated. The latter is compared with design normalized difference and cross-sectional dimension of radar target is found. EFFECT: measurement of cross-sectional dimensions of air targets by single-position mobile radar with array employed by ordinary coordinate stations. 2 dwg
