FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to selection of potato strains to Colorado potato beetle. Method involves detection of plant as a marker of resistance. For this purpose leaf tissue is incubated with insect gastroenteric tract extract followed by determination of chlorophyll "B" loss. By the latter index resistance of potato strain to Colorado potato beetle is estimated: the less loss of chlorophyll "B" the more resistance of the strain. Method ensures to detect resistance of potato plant to Colorato potato beetle as plant property under laboratory conditions being this property does not effect on humans and domestic animals. EFFECT: improved method of assay, decreased labor intensity. 1 tbl
