FIELD: machining of workpieces for obtaining relief structures on household articles or pieces of art protected from counterfeit. SUBSTANCE: method involves forming ornamental surface so that alternating slots and ridges define parallel or two equally spaced curved lines, or angle between side faces of alternating slots and ridges being within the range of 80-120 deg, and ridge and slot width ratio being within the range of from 0.8:1.0 to 1.2: 1.0; engraving symbol members on each side left-hand face and/or each side right-hand face and/or on ridges of formed surface. Symbols may be defined by straight lines of different length adapted for defining different patterns. Symbols may be engraved along the whole height of side face, or on its upper part, with height of upper part making 1/3-2/3 of height of face.
