FIELD: optical instrument engineering. SUBSTANCE: method may be used in measurement technology with the aid of optoelectronic instruments. Device has laser radiation source and receiver positioned on different sides of threaded section being checked, electromechanical system used to move part and/or information reading facility is checked along checked threaded section and to turn the part to next angular position. Device also includes personal computer for data processing and delivery of signal to electromechanical system for motion. The method and device make it possible to check nonuniformity of external thread wear of loaded parts and to determine place and degree of wear of definite turn which are performed in process of pipeline repair with the aid of photodetecting matrix in optoelectronic head and linear-and-angular movement pickup, which outputs are connected to unit of primary information processing.
