FIELD: laser direction finding and quantum electronics. SUBSTANCE: method involves spectral selection of optical beam using active quantum filter, detection of three-dimensional reception angle at output of filter, splitting it into partial flows, setting value of three-dimensional partial reception unit for each of partial flow to diffraction three- dimensional reception angle at output of active quantum filter, measuring of average fluctuation level of spontaneous radiation in partial angle at output and input of active quantum filter, and amplification gain of active quantum filter, setting optimal operation mode of active quantum filter, which provides minimal level of intrinsic noise in active quantum filter and elimination of adverse effects on sensitivity of intrinsic noise of array photodetector. Device which implements said method provides experimental confirmation of effect. EFFECT: increased effective range, increased sensitivity for reception of low optical signals reflected from object, extremely high reception intensity, which corresponds to quantum limit, which depends on quantum structure of electromagnetic field, reception and detection of single pulse with signal-to-noise ratio of 1.5 in near infrared band without means for cooling of receiving equipment. 6 cl, 3 dwg
