METHOD AND POWER PLANT FOR GENERATING ELECTRICAL ENERGY FROM SHALE Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: power engineering; shale-processing industry. SUBSTANCE: plant has shale pyrolysis unit with process furnace, exhaust-heat boiler connected to process furnace, steam-gas mixture cleaning and condensing system, storage tanks for semicoke gas and liquid fuel fractions, steam-turbine power unit connected to tank holding fractions with boiling temperature T_b= 350-450, gas-turbine unit connected to tank holding fractions with boiling temperatures T_b= 200-350 C and T_b< 200 C, additional gas-turbine unit connected to semicoke gas tank. Waste- gas outlets of gas-turbine units are connected to steam-turbine unit boiler. Shale is subjected to pyrolysis to produce steam-gas mixture and semicoke; the latter is burned and heat of stack gases is used to produce steam; steam-gas mixture is cleaned and condensed to form semicoke gas and liquid-fuel fractions. The latter are accumulated in respective tanks; fractions with T_b= 350-450^°C C are burned in steam-turbine unit, those with T_b = 200-350 C and <200 C are burned in gas-turbine unit, and fraction with T_b higher than 450 C is returned to pyrolysis stage; semicoke gas is burned in additional gas-turbine unit.
