FIELD: mechanical engineering; drying facilities. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment designed for drying loose materials such as granulated plastic, grain, ore samples. After loading of loose material into drier, rotation drive 14 (speed from 3 to 10 rpm), microwave oscillator 5, air heater 9 and fan 11 are switched on. As drum 1 rotates slowly, and loose material (granules or grain) is relatively heavy, material does not spread over entire volume of drum 1 but is turned only through angle of 45o so that wave-slot resonance radiator system 6, turned through the same angle, radiates microwave power directed square to loose material layer. Ribs 4 provide stirring of loose material for uniform heating. Moisture evaporated from loose material is heated by hot air and is let out through channel 10 by means of fan 11. Use of decimetric wave band magnetron of I-kW power rating and air heated to 60 C provide drying of up to 50 kg of granulated plastic in 40 minutes. Drier provides drying of loose materials to moisture content not exceeding 3% at external temperature acting onto material not exceeding 60 C (for instance, maximum tolerable temperature of drying for polystyrene-based composite materials should not exceed 80 C).
