FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of trimming outer surface of distilled calcium by means of metallic brush, heating it until temperature no more than 0.12 of temperature of calcium melting, performing first stage of pressing distilled calcium for making intermediate blanks, heating them until temperature no more than 0.18 of temperature of melting calcium and performing second stage of continuously pressing blanks and welding successively fed intermediate blanks. First stage may be realized at elongation no less than 6 at pressing temperature no higher than 0.18 of temperature of calcium melting. Second stage is realized with elongation value 130-200 at pressing temperature no more than 0.25 of temperature of calcium melting. In both stages pressing is realized through single-duct die. EFFECT: improved mechanical characteristics of pieces of calcium wires welded in deformation zone, enlarged assortment of wire due to possibility of making wire with diameter less than 10 mm, enhanced efficiency of method. 5 cl, 2 tbl
