FIELD: cellular communication equipment. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns keeping network directory database, which comprises set of telephone numbers, in cellular telecommunication network. The method involves requesting search criteria from user and accepting search criteria from user, generation of information request signal in response to input search criteria, and sending the signal to cellular network, running search of matches to search criteria in network directory database, and detection one or several telephone numbers, which are sent back to cellular telephone hand set and stored in memory unit of hand set. This results in possibility to reduce communication to operator, which assists in getting help about directory and decreases time of communication between telephone hand set and cellular network.
