FIELD: glassmaking. SUBSTANCE: invention concerns manufacturing liquid glass by hydrothermal alkaline treatment of silica-containing raw material. Preliminarily prepared suspension is fed into heating zone at velocity 3-5 m/s and heated to yield liquid glass, which is then cooled and tapped. Heat evolving from tapped glass is recuperated to heat original suspension. Reactor consists of several interconnected tubes having heating zone, exposure zone, and cooling zone. Heating zone tubes surround or are inserted into cooling zone tubes thereby forming room serving as heat recuperation zone. Reactor inlet bears mounted thereon pressure device. Reactor tube can be arranged coaxially or in series. EFFECT: reduced power consumption due to recuperating heat of cooled product, and avoided necessity of rotating reactor and simplified reactor structure due to lack of liquid glass cooling appliance. 11 cl, 6 dwg
