FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cooling and temperature control systems for elements and mechanisms with intensive heat release, such as internal combustion engines. System has engine cooling jacket made in form of hermetically sealed thermal siphons, heat insulating wall with upper and lower inclined channels found, together with evaporator and reservoir, in each thermal siphon to form steam-lift starter for circulating cooling agent consisting of components one of which boils at stabilizing temperature and the other turns into solid state at temperature below stabilizing temperature, featuring in this state low thermal conductivity. Radiator is made for free air convection and is pressed by its plane to thermal siphons of engine cooling jacket. Cooling agent boils in evaporator adjoining cylinder wall. Bubbles formed at boiling rise to upper inclined channel in wall under action of lifting force and convection currents and push out liquid column from channel into reservoir where liquid is cooled by radiator. Cooling agent lowers to reservoir bottom, being additionally cooled by radiator, and gets through lower channel into evaporator where it is heated and moves upwards starting boiling again. With engine shut down, circulation of cooling agent ceases until full stop and second component of cooling agent settles on walls of thermal siphon adjoining the radiator in form of low thermal conductivity layer. Such state of system, with presence of heat insulating wall in engine cooling jacket, makes it possible to keep engine warm despite of developed area of radiator surface. This device employs only parasitic heat energy of internal combustion engine and physical properties of materials without the use of movable units and coupling hoses. EFFECT: enhanced operation reliability and efficiency of temperature control system of internal combustion engine. 1 dwg
