FIELD: electrical and lighting engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to supply power to gaseous-discharge lamps with adjustable spectrum and emission intensity employed , for example, for lighting, machining of various surfaces, stimulation of plant growing, photographic exposing, in medicine, etc. Invention is designed to control gaseous- discharge lamp with pressure not more than 1.0 atm filled with inert gas ( for instance, xenon, argon, krypton, etc ) or mixture of above-mentioned gases having high efficiency of conversion of electric energy to light energy in required spectral interval, long service life and capability to change its energy-power and spectral characteristics. Device controlling gaseous-discharge lamp includes power supply unit, ignition circuit and gaseous-discharge lamp. It is supplemented with reservoir capacitor connected to power supply unit and former of main discharge pulses manufactured in the form of electron key to whose controlling input control signals from output of generator of rectangular pulses are fed. Key is switched off according to curve of rise of current. Leads-out are placed in discharge circuit of lamp. Cathode of lamp has cavity. In lamp pulses of current of high amplitude and of high rate of rise and droop are formed with the aid of electron key and electron emission has no explosive character.
