DEVICE FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC MIXING OF LIQUID CORE OR INGOTS AND CASTINGS IN MULTISTRAND CASTING Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy; devices applicable in casting of ingots and castings round, square or rectangular in cross-section by continuous casting multistrand machines. SUBSTANCE: device consists of multisectional closed magnetic circuit forming a screen. Ingots are located in windows of magnetic circuit. Magnetic circuit sides are in the form of rods or variable length with coils arranged on them. Each next rod is generating line of a new section of magnetic circuit. Coils on parallel rods are with series-opposing or parallel-opposing connection. Coils on perpendicular rods are connected to different phases of two-phase voltage source and set up in window region rotating magnetic field. The latter makes liquid core of ingot rotate. EFFECT: saved electrotechnical materials and power resources with increased number of casting strands. 1 dwg
