FIELD: machine engineering, namely, different type metal working plants, particularly equipment for grinding blanks with use of systems for automatically controlling feed of grinding wheel. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of measuring sound pressure of acoustic signal generated by grinding wheel at time moment of approaching blank and cutting into it for evaluating capability of wheel for grinding; comparing measured sound pressure with optimal set value detected according to time moment of achieving designed allowance at cutting in; when two above mentioned values are the same switching speed of grinding wheel motion to working feed. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and accuracy of grinding wheel cut-in, improved stability of grinding process. 2 dwg
